Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to provide, protect and improve the app.
Account information
If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address and account identifier through Firebase Authentication. Sign-in is optional. You can also use the app without creating an account, subject to free usage limits.
Device and app information
We collect technical identifiers and app information, including Firebase Installation ID, Firebase UID where applicable, App Check information, device/app interaction events, and basic technical logs. We use this to operate the app, prevent abuse, enforce free usage limits, troubleshoot issues and understand app usage.
Approximate location
Firebase Analytics may collect approximate location, such as country or region, based on technical information like IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Subscription and purchase information
If you buy a subscription, purchase and entitlement information is handled through the App Store, Google Play and RevenueCat. We may receive subscription status, product identifier, purchase history and entitlement status. We do not receive your card number or full payment details.
Generated audio and requests
When you request an episode, the app sends the generation request to our backend. The backend may store generated episode files, related metadata and signed delivery links so that the episode can be played in the app.
Beta programme signup (website)
If you request an invite to our closed beta on our website, you voluntarily submit your name and email address. We use them only to manage beta signups, contact you about the beta programme and send test invites.
Information we do not collect
Through the app, we do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, photos, files, health data, precise location, or recordings of your voice. The app does not record user audio.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide the app and generate audio episodes;
- manage optional sign-in and account access;
- enforce free usage limits and prevent abuse;
- manage subscriptions and premium access;
- store and deliver generated episodes;
- monitor app performance and usage;
- respond to support and privacy requests;
- manage beta programme signups and invites;
- maintain security and comply with legal obligations.
Third-party services and processors
We use the following services to operate the app and our website:
- Firebase / Google services, including Firebase Core, Authentication, Analytics, App Check and Installations;
- RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management;
- Apple App Store and Google Play for billing and subscription management;
- AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3 and CloudFront, for backend hosting, storage and delivery;
- Anthropic, ElevenLabs and OpenAI as backend processing providers for generation and text-to-speech functionality;
- Web3Forms as the form relay for website beta signups — it forwards submissions to our support inbox.
The generation providers receive only the generation parameters and the generated script text — not your identity.
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their own terms and privacy commitments.
Sharing of information
We do not sell personal information.
We may share information with service providers listed above, where needed to operate the app and our website. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or sale.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
Data storage and security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. Data is transmitted using HTTPS. Generated audio is delivered using signed CloudFront URLs.
No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Retention
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Account information is kept while your account remains active. Generated episodes and related metadata are kept for as long as needed to provide playback and manage the service, unless deleted earlier. Technical logs and analytics may be kept for limited periods according to operational needs and service provider settings.
Beta signup details (name and email) are kept until the beta programme ends or you ask us to remove you at support@nonsensepodcast.app.
We may retain limited information for longer where needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute handling or accounting.
Account and data deletion
You can delete your account and associated data directly in the app: go to Account → Delete account. You can also request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@nonsensepodcast.app.
When we receive a deletion request, we will delete or anonymise the relevant account data unless we need to keep limited information for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting or dispute reasons. Full details: how to delete your account & data.
Children
Nonsense Podcast is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@nonsensepodcast.app and we will take appropriate action.
International processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States, where our backend infrastructure is hosted. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards for international transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to data portability or to complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise your rights, contact us at support@nonsensepodcast.app.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify users in the app or by other reasonable means.
